Review of money processors

E-GOLD

Create an e-gold account

One of most popular money processors used by autosurf programs and HYIP sites based in Nevis. It is operating already for more than 10 years since 1995 with it's own electronic currency unit called e-gold which is backed at all times by gold bullion in allocated storage. When funding your e-gold account you are actually purchasing some amount of gold at the current price. Because of this balance in your account will fluctuate over time according to price of gold at the time. This is useful at this time mostly because of USD weakening and global inflation of money valuable metals like gold or silver are becoming more popular and it shows in price of gold as well which is raising over time. The more money you use in e-gold more it affects your balance. If it's just 10-20$ im your account these fluctuations will just change it by 5-10 cents but if it holds approx 1000$ worth of e-gold then fluctuations can cause account balonce to jump from 1000$ yesterday to 950$ today and if lucky 1100$ tomorrow just because the price of gold was changing and no transactions made.
Currently gold price is raising most of the time and since last summer when it was just 450$ now in beginning of March of 2006 is it's at approx 550$. Well what do you know it went up to 638$ just within one month today April 19 of 2006.
You can follow fluctuations in price of gold using chart below which is showing current price and recent changes in last 24 hours.
[Most Recent Quotes from www.kitco.com]

Considering the fact that trend is mostly going up and as experts in finances predict price of gold can go up to 800$ per ounce I think keeping your funds in valuable metal currently is quite profitable thing. For eg. if you added 900$ last summer to your e-gold account and didn't touch it until now you would have 1100$ at this time which is 200$ more which is 20% profit over 6 months just because price of gold went up. In shortterm means these fluctuations can also be used in your favor if you watch the graph before making any spends or payout requests. Note that fluctuations are going up and down withing 1-2% price difference within few hours or several days and if you see it at highest point it's quite good moment to make a spend but if it is at lowest point then it's quite good idea to withdraw from programs you are in if that is under your control of course.
For eg if 2 days ago gold price was at 560$ per ounce and today it dropped to 540$ and you have pending withdrawal of 550$ in your cashbalance of your favorite HYIP you can request it now and you will get more than 1 ounce of gold but 2 days ago it would be less than ounce by few grams. This means that when the price goes back up and even raises up to 580$ for eg you can make a spend back into your HYIP for same amount of gold you received and you will have 40$ left in your e-gold balance. Same can be done by just funding your account using some exchange service at the point of 540$ price and withdrawing when it is up at 580$. Altho with small amounts exchange commissions of 2-4% will eat up any profit.
This is somewhat similiar to forex trading or foreign currency exchange market operations where people buy different currencies and if this is done at right moments it can bring quite good profits. Just imagine if you had 54000$ available and bought e-gold for all this money when it was at price of 540$ per ounce which would be 100 ounces of e-gold bought. A week later when price went up to 580$ you withdraw your money by selling e-gold which would give you 58000$ for 100 ounces of gold and your profit after this fluctuation after one week would be 4000$. That's how most legit HYIP traders operate in forex markets and can sustain those high percentages offered to members who invest with them.
Anyway my point was to show you how to use fluctuations in gold price to choose moment when to fund your e-gold account or when to withdraw from it. When graph shows price is at low point make your withdrawals at hyip or autosurf programs or fund your e-gold account by purchasing gold at exchangers because it will give more weight of gold for lower price. When it is at high point you can make investments, spends into autosurf or just withdraw your money using debit card or bank wire throught exchangers.

Funding your e-gold account.

Funding of your e-gold account is only possible through exchange services. It isn't as complicated as it sounds. You just can choose one of those many exchangers I listed below and buy e-gold to fund your e-gold account. Usual commission they take is bank wire fee and 2-4% of amount you exchange as their service fee. Of course it is a good idea to use reputable exchange services as there are some scam artists who might just take your money and not fund your e-gold. Usually in such cases offered exchange fee is just too low like 0.5-1%. So if you find some exchanger with such low fees be careful and exchange low amounts. Choosing exchange service based in your or neighbour country is a good idea as well because in this case you will save on bank wire fee. Internal wire transfer is cheaper than international one. For eg. I use in Latvia based exchanger E-Ls which offers 3% rate for e-gold exchange and only constant 0.40$ bank wire fee because it is domestic wire. In case if I used exchanger in USA I would have to pay 3% for exchange and approx 5-15$ fee for bank wire. That is main reason I mentioned country next to the exchange services list.

Exchange services.

Omnipay (Florida, USA) - offers 2% rate plus bank wire fees.
GoldAge (Panama) - offers 3-4% fee on buying/selling e-gold.
IceGold (Estonia - European Union) - offers 2% rate plus bank wire fees.
LondonGoldExchange (Great Britain - EU) - offers 4% rate

These are just most reputable and popular ones I know but there are a lot more of those around. For official list you can check E-Gold directory of exchangers. Exchange services are good option if you want to use bank wire as most of them operate only with this type of transactions. But there are other quite popular options like funding e-gold using credit card. For this you need to find either exchanger that allows funding with credit card or money processor which offers exchange services with e-gold and funding with credit card.

Withdrawing from E-gold

To withdraw money from e-gold you can use same exchangers listed above or one that you found best for you which is operating in your country or use another quite popular option - debit cards. It allows to cash out your e-gold funds at any ATM usually in either MasterCard or Cirrus network. Depends on card type you have chosen. I will just mention 2 most popular debit cards currently used in hyip/autosurf world - gCard and Uniclear debit cards. Most of other cards are just resellers or not that popular and reputable to be reliable enough to use safely. Money processors like EMO also use their own debit cards.
I personally prefer gCard because of it's good service and fast loading of debit card but fees are quite high for it. Uniclear is bit cheaper option but quite often causes delays in card funding, customer service could be better and site is quite slow.

Security issues

E-gold has been around for the last 10 years now and has been a widely popular choice due to it's fluidity and ease of use. Unfortunately, E-gold proves to be extremely popular with hackers whom attempt to trick customers into giving up their login details. This is usually done via the form of a phishing email meant to look like that of E-gold. You might ask if it is safe to use their service in light of hackers high interest? Well nothing is safe on internet but if you follow few simple recommendations you can feel much safer about your money in E-gold account:

1
. Never click on any HTML links you receive in emails meant to look like the source was from E-gold themselves. These are so called phishing emails which are used by hackers in attempt to lead you to their copycat E-gold site which by design on first looks exactly the same as original one but with one important detail different - it's address which is either typoed and can be overlooked on first. Their goal is to make receiver of such e-mail go to their site and type in your account number and passphrase. Usually this will result in page just reloading and nothing suspicious but in reality the details were recorded and e-mailed to hacker who can instantly go to real E-gold site and access your account and transfer your funds to his account. Quite often changing passphrase as well to allow hacker access to future payments if any. This is most dangerous way of loosing your account because those e-mails look exactly same as E-gold issued ones except that E-gold never put any links in their e-mails and no software can save you from this because this method is based on lack of experience of many people who are quite new to internet and never heard of such things as phishing e-mails. So be careful with such e-mails and never click on links in them but open new window of your browser and use bookmark of E-gold site to access it. Even if you are aware it is a phishing e-mail and are just curious how that site looks like don't click on it because it will save in your history of accessed sites and if you are used to type in web addresses manually in address bar you might end up in this fake site because browsers have the autocomplete set on by default and after typing in first few letters this fake address might pop up in your address bar and lead you to fake site instead of original one. Also when accessing it to login or to make payment always check if it has HTTPS in front of address bar which shows that it is secure connection. Usually address bar has yellow background when on secure connections as well so if you notice that E-gold site you accessed doesn't have these things verify again if site is actual E-gold site.

2. Register your E-gold account to a seperate email address. Never disclose that email address to anyone! An ISP based email is highly recommended. Though if not possible for you to get another ISP based email address, a Gmail account is just as good. Gmail has a built in system where users can mark a "phishing" email. When a hacker's email has been marked as "phishing" by a few Gmail users, it automatically appears as "SPAM" and a warning appears should you read the email online from your web browser. What makes it great when you use seperate e-mail for E-gold is that chances you will not receive such phishing e-mails are almost 100% because hackers usually target e-mails people use to sign up in their scam programs and have E-gold accounts provided with those. If you never use this e-mail anywhere else no hacker will find out about it. It also will be big red warning sign if you suddenly will receive a phishing e-mail not to your contact e-mail but to some e-mail you use to signup in programs. When I received my first phishing e-mail my first thought was how in the hell E-gold found out about this address which I never provided them. Only later I started to look more closely at that e-mail and discovered it had fake link leading to some www.e-g0ld.com site. (Notice the difference is only o replaced with 0 which at first glance doesn't look so different.) If you need an invite for gmail account just send me an e-mail and I will issue an invite to you.

3. A sure fire way of determining if the source was in fact from E-gold is noting the Account # details in that email. Most hackers who send out "phishing" emails have no knowledge of your E-gold Account number thus it will be "blank". Emails received from Egold will indicate your account # and your own IP address. Obviously if you received an email that claims to be from E-gold to a different email address from the one that you registered your Account to, you know straight away that it's a "phishing" email. Check out the typo errors. Never click on any HTML links you receive in emails meant to look like the source was from Egold themselves

4. When loginning in, always use the "SRK" keypad for randomly place alphanumeric buttons. That will foil any "key-loggers" on your computer designed to record keystrokes and send them back to the hacker even if your computer is infected with keylogger or trojan.

5. Another option is to use RoboForm. It's one of the world's most secure password managers for internet browsers. They have the FREE version available for download. There's a limitation to storing only 10 passwords though.

6. Considering the fact that opening an E-gold account is quite easy and you can have multiple accounts with them consider opening several accounts and spreading your funds among those which reduces chances of hacker getting all of your money. If by accident you did fall for phishing e-mail and typed in details of one of your accounts others can still be safe. Transfering your funds from one account to other costs only few cents but it can be worth it. Good idea as well is to use buffer account which is used for making deposits and receiving payments which are then transfered to alternative accounts for safety. Also another approach is to have seperate accounts for each type of investments like one for autosurfing, one for HYIP, one for those shortlife risky HYIP, one for your Forex ventures and etc.

7. Use anti-virus, anti-spyware and hardware/software firewall to prevent keyloggers, trojans and other hacker sniffer tools infecting your computer. For anti-virus I recommend Norton, McAfee or Kaspersky AV which are leaders in the virus killing. As one of best anti-spyware software I consider Spyware Doctor which finds a lot more spyware and adware than other similiar applications. Hardware firewall is one of best protections and can be added as router between your computer and internet. As for software firewall solutions I consider ZoneAlarm as one of best because it has Linux type approach which allows only those connections that were approved by user. So if you see a suspicious connection attempt from some program you are not using at the time you can just simply deny it and also find out and about possible intruder in your computer trying to contact it's owner and locate it.

8. And of course last but not least change your passphrase as often as possible and have all those accsent settings like browser detection, ip detection and etc enabled which makes the life of hacker nearly impossible even if your details fall into their hands by accidently entering them in site that you got into from link in phishing e-mail or other means they might not have access to your e-mail account which will receive the PIN request in case of ip address or browser change. Changing passphrase is recommended for once a week at least but if you have large sum in your account consider more frequent change. Use digits and special characters in your passphrase for more complexity. Mixing upper and lower case letters is also a good idea.

E-gold trojan catching and removal

Here is some useful information for those concerned about their e-gold funds and their computer security level to use e-gold safely. This is research on the egold trojan and how accounts are getting hacked by it. Most anti-virus/spyware programs are not able to catch it because it is not in their databases yet. Not only that, this trojan does not activate until after you have logged into your egold and it uses your own computer to bypass every security measure, IP confirmation, password SRK, everything.

The trojan uses an exploit in IE to infect your computer. DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER. This browser is most vulenarable security wise and shouldn't be used for monetary operations over the net. Download and use Firefox or Opera which use different engine and are considered secure way to navigate in internet.
Here is a description how this trojan works:
This Trojan does not employ usual phishing techniques, like logging user keystrokes in text files that can be sent to a remote malicious user.
Instead, whenever a user tries to access the e-gold account login form via the URL http://e-gold.com/acct/login.html, it opens a hidden duplicate Internet Explorer (IE) window accessing that same URL. It then proceeds to fill up the duplicate Web form, which eventually leads to illegal account access. The Trojan periodically drains the funds of the compromised account by a certain percentage. The stolen funds are then transferred to another e-gold account.
To be able to successfully perform this function, this Trojan uses IE's built-in Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) automation functions. This method is similar to API hooks used by file-infectors. In this case, this Trojan executes certain functions for every change in the URL address that occurs while the user continues to navigate through the following e-gold Web pages:

* e-gold.com/acct/acct.asp
* e-gold.com/acct/balance.asp
* e-gold.com/acct/spend.asp
* e-gold.com/acct/verify.asp
* https: //www.e-gold.com/acct/acct.asp
* https: //www.e-gold.com/acct/balance.asp
* https: //www.e-gold.com/acct/spend.asp

(Note: Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) is a compound document standard that enables a user to create objects with one application and then link or embed them in another application.) The Trojan runs on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP.
One of the symptoms that you are infected with this trojan is that you get the wrong turing number page (at egold) every time you try to log in. On the page you are redirected to, the links at the top of the page will not work.

You all need to check your computers for the file named gdiwxp.dll (Usually found in SYSTEM32 folder). This is the most recent variant of the trojan that could be found and is still popping up in late March of 2006. If you have this file on your computer, you are infected with the egold trojan and and you need to get rid of it immediately.
It might not show up with a simple file search, it may be a hidden. Better use Hijack This to look at your registry for the
file. You can download Hijack This for free at:http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html
This program is mainly used by people so that they can post a registry log in the tech forums and ask for help. Don't remove anything in your registry unless you know what you are doing. Just look for the file containing gdiwxp.dll with this tool.
If you find the trojan on your computer, you can use Security Task Manager (http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/) to delete it.

Only RegRun (http://www.greatis.com/appdata/d/g/gdiwxp.dll.htm) has this file in their trojan database and can remove it for you if you don't want to do it manually with tools mentioned previously.

Some more tips from tech support of E-gold

There is no such thing a e-gold hacking software. It is a scam in which hackers will send you a Trojan virus that will capture your passphrase and then they will in turn steal your e-gold without providing you any software.

There are three security recommendations we would like to make to you in case you are not currently doing them.

1. You may want to consider book marking the e-gold IP address versus the URL as your e-gold bookmark and only access it via your bookmark. The IP to bookmark is https://209.200.169.10. The reason for doing this is there are viruses such as this one: http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=99469 that plant fake entries in the host file which windows then uses instead of the correct IP address for the site. Using the e-gold IP address versus the URL will bypass this type of Trojan. Also, never access your e-gold account via an email message even if the message appears to come from e-gold.

2. Always use the SRK feature to access your e-gold account never type it in! You should first change your passphrase using the SRK feature. If your passphrase is changed using the “SRK” feature and the account is only accessed using the “SRK” feature, then your passphrase will be protected even if there is a Trojan virus on your computer. However, this is true only if you are at the correct e-gold site. To ensure you are always at the e-gold site, you may want to click the box next to your account number on the login page that says, “Store my account number on my computer”. In the future when you attempt to log into your account and if the account number is not displayed, you should be wary of entering your passphrase because you may be at a fake e-gold site. a. Log into your account using your current passphrase. b. Click on the button that says, “account info” c. Scroll down to passphrase box and click in the box. d. Click on the button that says SRK e. A small window will pop up on your screen f. Enter your new passphrase by clicking on the numbers, letters or symbols in the pop-up window. You will see *** being added to the passphrase box as you use your mouse to click on the numbers, letters or symbols. *See note g. When ready to confirm your passphrase click on the arrow on the bottom right hand corner of the pop-up window. h. Confirm new passphrase using the same procedure you followed in item #f. i. Click update passphrase. *Note: For upper case letter click on the upper case “ABC”, for lower case letters click on the lower case “abc”, for numbers click on the “123″, for symbols click on the “sym”

3. If you are making a spend via the e-gold shopping cart interface (SCI) always confirm you at the actual e-gold site. To verify you are at the actual e-gold site when using the SCI spend page, double click on the gold security lock and verify that the certificate was issued to www.e-gold.com and that the certificate was issued by verisign and is valid from 11/22/2004 - 12/1/2006. You can also review the certificate details and make sure the certificate serial number is: 58:7C:C8:8D:BA:AB:DF:C3:FD:81:BB:2E:5B:93:69:31. SHA1 Fingerprint: F8:4F:52:2C:E9:58:A4:43:5A:37:89:34:6D:77:2D:70:09:6C:6A:82 (also known as Thumbprint for Internet Explorer Users) MD5 Fingerprint: 5D:AC:00:B8:11:D4:06:22:5B:CC:83:EE:7D:1E:7C

How to detect mIRC resident Trojan

Very recently, a rash of attacks have been reported by victims that had their eGold accounts cleaned out at the same time they were in their eGold account. Their anti-trojan and anti-virus software didn't detect the trojan program they had picked up which was remotely feeding their internet activitys to the hackers view screen.

  One of the victims used robo form, others used very long complicated passphrases, that didn't make any difference, the hacker simply watched and waited for the account owner to login before cleaning that eGold account out.

  In almost all cases, a properly secured firewall locking out all non essential outside ports would have prevented those losses. In order for those keyloggers and concurrent remote feed sessions to be successful, they have to use additional outside ports from your computer to relay that information back to the hacker.

 In nearly all cases the most widely used avenue is thru a mIRC relay. Those are easy to spot if you are technically minded regarding your firewall ports. Here is a quick alternative.

Steps to do just prior to accessing your eGold account
Click on the Ms-Dos Icon if you have one to pull up the Dos Command Prompt. C:>

Then simply enter the following command into the windows DOS command prompt:>

netstat -an | find ":6667"

hit enter and then repeat with this:

netstat -an | find ":113 "

  If both of those separate requests come back empty, or has no response that's what you want. If either one comes up as Established and you are NOT running any mIRC scripting TCP internet relay chat channels then YOU KNOW IMMEDIATELY there is a problem. That DOS command searches for specific network status on those two specific ports, if its finds any, it reports back with that information along with a confirmation of 'Established'. Port 6667 is the default and most widely used port for mIRC relays, double checking Port 113 also minimizes any additional danger.

The piping symbol | you need to include in those above Dos Commands is shift \ (Shift plus the forward slash symbol).

Dos commands do not support copy and paste, you'll need to write that down in your windows notepad or on paper and manually type those two commands one at a time at the Dos Prompt.

C:>netstat -an | find ":6667"

then

C:>netstat -an | find ":113 "
